Anita Priest was born & educated in New York during the Depression. She overcame many obstacles in her life
and was one of the first women to volunteer and join our country’s Women’s Army Corp. She served four years as
an Officer in the WACS during WW11.

Her flair for design came from her grandfather who designed costumes for the famous Flo Ziegfeld, her Mother
modeled his creations.

She attended New York’s New School for Social research, took courses at the Chicago and New York schools of
Design and also spent a summer studying at the Sorbonne in France.

In the 1950’s she moved to Miami, Florida where her Interior Decorating career began. She was an in-house
designer at first and then branched out to open her own business. Her studio & accessory shop was in Bay
Harbor and called Accent’s Unlimited.

She was way ahead of her time and had many clients including Judges, Politicians, Celebrities and local
Notables. The famous Architect Morris Lapidus wanted her on his team, but she had bigger ideas.

In 1962, she founded the School for Interior Decoration and Design and opened her first school on Miami’s
famous Decorator’s Row. Soon after came a second school in Fort Lauderdale.

Her mission in life was to help others. Many of her students went on to be well known designer’s in their own
right. She changed the lives of many!
Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Priest was included in Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s who of
Florida Women and Barron’s International Edition of Who’s Who in Interior Design. In 1994 she was recognized
as Woman of the Year by the Gay community with a Dixie award.
She was a past President of what is now ASID and pioneered many professional organizations.

Besides teaching at her own school she also taught at Miami-Dade Community College, Florida Atlantic
University and the University of Miami.
Her thriving design career spanned over forty years. She created many memorable and prestigious spaces,
private homes, famous restaurants, clubs and condominiums including models for local well known builders.
When she retired she continued to lecture at various institutions and was a frequent guest lecturer for Cunard
Steamship Line.

Anita’s amazing zest for life came to an end in 2008.

She may be gone but her legacy lives on in all of those she touched with her wit and wisdom. She was greatly
loved and would be so honored knowing that her Scholarship will help a talented, passionate student in design
and the Arts realize their dream as she did hers.

Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida’s MICRO GIVING Fund is about Community Building, (Re)Start Up Support and Hope –
not Handouts

MicroGiving is most often thought of as the charitable donation of small increments of money from a single donor to a specific recipient. Over the last decade,
this giving option has grown and evolved to include a variety of needs, ideas, resources & funding opportunities.

Beginning in Summer 2020 | Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida (UC|CU) will bring  MicroGiving to the South Florida TLGBQ community, with focus on what
individuals need RIGHT NOW, and the opportunity to help you get one step closer to stability, prosperity, giving back and fulfilling your dreams.

HOW UC|CU’s MicroGiving Works | Applications will be available online, year-round, via unitycoalition.org for a variety of FUNDING AND/OR MENTORING &
REFERRAL OPPORTUNITIES.  Each qualifying application will be reviewed by our funding board of community leaders, mentors & professionals, and will be
considered on individual merit, needs based and long-term benefits of each request.

Funding will be considered for residents of Dade & Broward, Fl., limited to $100 to $500 and offered as a onetime award, along with organizational
development and as-needed technical assistance to the micro-grantees over the course of the funding period.

Start Ups, Visioning and Community Building | Have the next great idea for a new business, social justice program or community need? Want to start your
own small business, service or produce? UCCU's Micro Giving provides seed monies, mentor-ship and professional business guidance to get you off the
ground.

Educational Development | Assistance with tuition, books or other education related expenses. Funding will be considered for those registered currently in
continued education level (college, University or Technical School) and funding is provided directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient. This is an
extension of our UC|CU Scholarship Program.

Personal Well-Being & Needs Based | Consideration for Health Care & Quality of Life Costs. This may include funding for name change costs, healthcare,
utilities or other personal related needs. Legal and medical services may also be considered, along with providing referrals to existing services in the
community.

UC|CU’s MicroGiving will incorporate and continue our successful LGBT Scholarship Program  |  With the goals of Leading & Empowering the LGBT
community, UC|CU is proud to continue the legacy of the Whispering Angels Foundation with the UC|CU Anita Priest Memorial SCHOLARSHIP founded by
Sandra Holiday in honor of her late partner - a legacy program that provides a scholarship for the LGBT community to advance their education in the Arts,
Design & Education. Through generous donations and corporate partnerships, in 2017 we have gave out over $50,000 in scholarships.

UC|CU’s MicroGiving builds on Community Partnerships, Mentoring and Empowerment | Since 2011, Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida has worked diligently to
develop partnerships within our communities- partnering with leaders and organizations that compliment our mission, as well as bring skills and leadership
in areas beyond our expertise. Programs such as our PRIDE U 2020, a Community Initiative Program & Social Challenge to better Engage, Inform & Inspire
centennials and millennials to take on leadership roles in the LGBT community to better serve, & effect positive change for those disenfranchised and
underserved; LLEGANDO305, a Traveling Social Event designed to help recent arrivals better navigate So. Fla & its many challenges, resources, &

I hope to change the way you think about fragrances & body products, by developing a
natural, no allergenic line, of affordable products for your lifestyle and our community.
Essential oils, candles, fragrances and body creams with you and the environment in mind.

Due to the current health crisis and being temporarily back with my family in North Carolina
to care for them, I have developed a line of Hand Sanitizers in 4 scents: Lavender, Tea
Tree, Frankincense, and Moon Child. I can also do unscented and take scent requests.

I currently supply a few health care facilities with these products, so I know it is effective.
My own family and myself carry bottles with us. Tested on the human variety, not animals.
70% ALCOHOL in 2.7 oz. squirt bottles or spray bottles. Made fresh to order with quality
products. Can also ship, price will depend on location.

A percentage of sales and product go directly to senior & the needy in our community.

I need not just Funding, but Mentorship and Professional Guidance from people in the
community, to help me prepare for the business world. UC|CU's MicroGiving is the perfect
way to help make these dreams and challenges get off the drawing board, be a little more
attainable and manageable, and start your new life
